AAA Executive Council Meeting was held on April 26th in Jeddah

 

 

Asian Apicultural Association (AAA) Executive Council Meeting was held on April 26th, 2016 in Jeddah Hilton Hotel. 

Executive Committee Members from Thailand, Korea, India, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Pakistan, Indonesia, China and Chapter Delegates from member countries attended the meeting. 

The meeting started with the opening speech by Prof. Siriwat Wongsiri, the President of AAA. 

He welcomed all the participants, expressed sincere appreciation to the Royal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Government and King Saud University, the local organizing committee of the 13th AAA Conference.

Special thanks went to Prof. Ahmad A. Al Ghamdi for his enormous effort in organizing the conference and providing the meeting room for AAA. 

In the report section, Prof. Chen Lihong, Secteraty General of Apicultural Science Association of China (ASAC) introduced the following speakers and remarked the session. 

Firstly, Prof. Ahmad delivered a short report on the 13th AAA 2016 Conference and agreed to provide 10,000 USD fundto AAA.

Prof. Siriwat Wongsiri reported the minutes of AAA committee meeting in the APIMONDIA Congress 2015 and recommended Dr. Hlaing MinOo from Myanmar to be the new Deputy Secretary General of AAA. 

Hlaing MinOo agreed to help organize the AAA meeting in the future. Unfortunately, he was not able to present this time. 

Somang Yang, Senior Manager of the Advocacy & Stakeholder Relations presented the proposal of Crop-Life Asia joint project with AAA. 

On behalf of Crop-Life Asia, she suggested to develop a uniform and validated model to capture bee pollinators over the world and would like to collaborate with AAA.

Then, India and Indonesia presented the14th AAA Conference application proposal respectively.

Secret ballot was conducted afterward. Prof. Siriwat announced the result and congratulated Indonesia for winning the bid. The 14th AAA Conference will be held in Indonesia.

Prof. Chen Lihong invited all the country members to submit the Beekeeping introduction of each country so that Beekeeping book in Asia can be published soon.

In addition, she suggested AAA to organize an expert group to assist and to promote Asia beekeeping, especially in developing countries.

 

Other issues considering Sub-Conference in Nepal, AAA complementary activities, new international individual members have been discussed throughly.  

Prof. Siriwat Wongsiri encouraged Indonesia to get prepared for the next AAA conference and expressed best wishes to all the AAA memebers in his closing remark.
